"Smiling" Joyce I never, thought about me leaving a legacy.
Back to the question about the legacy,
Joyce as I have said I never thought about me even having a Legacy to leave.
However, I am going to start out by share a little bit about myself with you and a little bit about the mark, I hope to leave behind.
I was 14 years old when I got pregnant with my first child and I had my second child when I was 16 years old.
I in their father got married after our third child was born. Which we had four kids in all.
You know the funny thing about it all, besides him being some years older than I, our family backgrounds was very different and believe me you my mother and father Was highly upset when they found out I was pregnant at the age of 14. Moreover, they were double lee upset when they found out how old he was.
What I mean by our family backgrounds was very different; well you see I come from a family where my siblings and I grew up with both parents in the household. Both of them Work outside the household. For years, my father worked at a box factory in eventually he landed a good paying job with a big company that made tires. My mother she worked in a doctor’s house for years, she also did odd jobs for other doctors to make extra money, and she eventually went to work for a big company also it was located on a government facility.
In addition, my mother side of the family you can say was people that played a big role for years through out the community back in the day.
My great aunt and uncles were small business owners and my grandfather worked for the city, they did not get rich off their businesses.
Matter of fact, for, as I know there were very few African American people in my hometown from back in the day that had their own business along with the white society.
In addition, one of my great-great uncles founded and pastor at our home church and my grandfather and great uncle were beacons in that church.
Now my mother’s mother also came from a well-known family. Her Uncle founded and Pastor a church and he founded a school at the church and taught there. It was a country church and school here in the south.
My father came from a well-known family as well.
I did not say all that above to say that my family thought that they were better than anyone else were. I am just trying to give you all a little glimpse into the environment in which I live as a child.
Both sides of my family are very friendly people, loving and giving bunch of folks, they do not meet any strangers. They are the type of people that embrace others regardless of their family background or nationality or status in life.
To be continued. Smile
